Been a long time

I'm sorry it's been so long since there's been an update. Not that anyone actually reads this thing, haha.

Some news though, Whitemage Productions is going to be renamed to Whitemage Entertainment, seeing as we intend to deal in video games as well as film (which was the original intent of wm production when it was founded in 2005).

There's some real work coming on a project currently named "green bean" not to get anyone's hopes up, but it's looking good. I haven't really had the time or energy to work on anything much lately, and graphics are still difficult for me to get my hands on, since I have little to no financing, and no artistic skill of my own. I hope to get some good progress in the coming week though, and provide you with updates ASAP.

Slacker

Okay, I've been kinda slacking... My son only just got better, so of course, I've been busy with that.. but the problem is, I have so many ideas buzzing through my brain, and I don't know where to start.
Several games are just vying for my attention, and I don't know which one to work on.

Currently in the works, are as follows:

The Steel Tower - tower defence
Green Bean - Time management/farming sim
Bermuda - RPG/farming sim
Unnamed virtual pet game - pet sim/time management
Cathenia - RPG/rts/time management
Unnamed board game - rpg-style board game

and many, many others that haven't quite been formed yet in my brain, but are still trying to work themselves out..

The problem is, I'm a slacker. That's not really the major problem, but it's part of it.
The REAL problem is, I can't draw, pretty much at all... so I'm having issues with graphics.. I have these great ideas in my head, but of course, I know next to nothing about graphic design, so I'm kinda boned in that respect.

I've got a couple of people that I could potentially ask to design some stuff for me, the problem is, none of them are graphic artist. They're good artists, but they don't normally do computer graphics, so that's a huge setback.

I'm not entirely sure what to do on that front, because my budget is nearly non-existent, and it's a bit hard to hire someone (who you don't already know) when you can't really afford to pay them.

So, that's the update.. I'll try to update more often, but, of course, I don't always have an update to give.

busy bee

Sorry I haven't updated much, it's been pretty hectic around here.

My mom came to visit, and stayed here for a few days, then my friend's son was having his 1st birthday... and then My son got some sort of stomach bug (most likely from someone at the bday party).

So it's been pretty intense around here, and I haven't been able to work on any games in about 2 weeks.

I'll see if I can get some new info posted soon, and maybe get you all psyched up for my new project

THE STEEL TOWER!

Perhaps if I say it enough it'll become viral, and everyone will be wondering what THE STEEL TOWER is.

Keep checking back, hopefully I'll have some more info for you soon.

And don't be shy about clicking the ad links on my blog... I'd actually appreciate it. SO if anything sparks your interest, click those ads! Maybe you'll uncover something amazing.. or maybe not. You'll never know if you don't click them.

Anyway.... it's 4am.. I should probably think about going to bed.
And so should you. Crazy people, reading my blog at 4am.

Problem Solved

It appears that there was a bit of an issue uploading the new patch for Fruit Explosion, but it should be working now. So give it a try, and have fun.

Thursday 1 March 2012

Fruit Explosion Patch 2.1

Fixed some known issues.
The stars now play their own sound, and no longer sound as if you pressed a fruit.
The Stars now move faster, and are more difficult to click.
The Rotten Fruit now play a more audible sound when clicked.

The Top Score screen is still broken. I am working on getting that fixed.

You Can Play It Here

Known Bugs

There are a few known bugs that I'm working on fixing.
For starters, the Stars make the same sound as the fruit when clicked, and they also move far too slow.
Some of the fruit still makes noise when the sound is turned off.
The "Top Score" page won't load properly.

And I'm sure there are more. So I'll work them out, and hopefully have it patched within a few days.

Links

I said I'd post it, and here it is.
You can play it here:

Or you can play it here!

I hope you all enjoy!

Tweaks and more tweaks

Fruit Explosion has been simplified. But at the same time, it's a bit more complicated.
It now only has 1 level, that can be repeated ad nosium.

You can play it on the game salad arcade (I'll link once it's properly uploaded) and I'll also embed it to my blog once it's up.

So, the rules are simple, you click the fruit to gain time and points. Rotten fruit will DECREASE your time and points, and bombs are instant loss.
However, if you happen to catch a star (they disappear very fast) you'll remove all the bad items, and all you'll have left are tasty fruit.

I hope you all enjoy! Feel free to leave comments, and don't forget to tell your friends!

Working out the kinks

The current version of fruit explosion still has some bugs to work out.

For starters level 3 won't load. And on level 2 the bombs stop moving, and get stuck in the corner under the ramp.
I neglected to implement the star system, or even add the stars in the first place... and the music volume is much to high and needs to be lowered.
Also, the sound effect for touching a rotten fruit is the same as a good fruit, which is just plain confusing.
I'm not sure if there are many more mistakes, I'm sure there are, but this is my first major attempt.

I've also noticed some issues with cross platform usage.. things that work on the mac seem to have issues on a pc, I'm not sure if that's because of something that I'm doing wrong, of if it's just because the two platforms have different system requirements.

If anyone has any insight as to why this might be happening, I'd be grateful for the comments.

Also, any questions, queries, comments, concerns or suggestions are also appreciated.

Strawberries = 5 points
Cherries = 10 points
Apples = 15 points
Bananas = 25 points
Bombs = game over!!!!!!!

Bermuda Update

Bermuda is currently on hold, do to issues with creating the project.
I'll be sure to update when the game is back in production!

Bermuda (working title)

Get lost in the Bermuda triangle in this fun filled simulation game.
You can farm, mingle, and fight.

You were on your way to start a new life when your Plane got sucked into the Bermuda Triangle.
The magnetic field around the triangle only dissipates every three years, allowing things in, or out, unfortunately your plane got caught in it, and now you're stuck on this island for three years.
Will you leave when the time is up, or decided to forge your new life here?

Just getting started

I've tried to produce games using products such as Gamemaker 8.1, but to no avail. They're overly complicated, and if you want to produce anything worth while you need to know coding.. which is not my forte.

Besides, if you want to produce iApps, which is my goal, you need to use a mac, the programs required to create apps are mac only.. of course Apple wants to dominate the market, I mean, it's their product you want to make games for, but it's still pretty lame.

So, a few days ago I got a Mac book Air, downloaded Gamesalad, and buckled down to start some work.
It's been pretty slow so far, just trying to figure out the program, mostly. I've got a few ideas (though I won't mention them here) and hopefully I'll have something workable to show for it.
